Is it time to update the builder grade “boob” light fixtures used throughout your home? Surprisingly the boob light was originated in 1890 when electricity was first being installed, despite its longevity I agree with leaving the female anatomy to humans and not in your design. I am sourcing lighting for a client and came across 10 amazing Amazon finds that I wanted to share with you. Honestly, I think I could replace my fixtures annually, they are such an instant way to change up your design. The best part is that there is every price point available for every budget out there. Something grab your attention, shop the links below and once your fixture is installed share it on your Insta and please tag @rack_design. I would be so happy!

I love this fixtures combination of walnut and black metal, a very striking look when used with a series of geometric rectangular shapes. Exposed bulbs allow for plenty of light to fill the room. If your entry way had a wood door, this would be a perfect compliment to your foyer!

This take on the large Wire hat lamp that has dressed many living and bedrooms is a unique option for that MCM design style. Rotating arms provide a track lighting choice for high- lighting art or a feature wall. With three bulbs you won't be left with inadequate lighting, yeah! I especially love how well it works with a contemporary understated aesthetic.

A very timeless light fixture but little touches of gold and black make it simply gorgeous! Using two or three in a row depending how long your hallway is, is an excellent way of dressing up your ceiling while directing you where to go. The clear glass shade almost creates a glowing warm shadow on the ceiling.

If contemporary is your style this is the fixture for you! It could also work in a Scandi design with its neutral tone. I'm crushing on it's soft rounded edges juxtaposed to the hard metal material. I imagine this in a off white colour palette with minimalist decor and furnishings.

Don't even get me started on this one! As in above the rounded shapes got me again! The jewel toned glass gives it an exotic inspiration. I love how it was used in a space with arched doorways, just fantastic design! Comes in few colours but the saffron colour is stunning. Consider a foyer with a patterned wallpaper to make it stand out even more. LOVE!

Fluting is everywhere right now, on furniture, on walls, backing bookcases. So why shouldn't it be on a light fixture? What makes this even more special is that it looks like handmade pottery. They come in warm earth tones so I'm sure it will be difficult to chose between the sage green, or burnt sienna. In an understated design these add a sense of collected artifacts from your travels.

All I see is colour and fun! I realize this isn't for everyone but if you are into a Maximalist design, this is it! When you visit really cool restaurants or hotel lobbies this is the kind of lighting you would expect to see. It brings you back in time to the 30's when Hollywood Regency was exploding. Glam and flashy with bold colour and prints. Its just a very exciting style that can be incorporated in small doses.

Drawn to the glitz and glam of decor, then go with a crystal (cut glass) fixture. I love how these create pattern on the ceiling especially when used in groupings. If you have coffered or architectural features in your house these really showcase the detail. These look fancy but not fussy which is what I love about them. Besides what girl isn't drawn to the look of a diamond? Am I right?

This is a fresh take on the Boho or coastal design style. It's always good to add texture in a space but this is a unique & modern way by doing it with black rattan. If you have black painted doors throughout, this is a really complimentary way to take notice. The shade is a larger weave so this allows for more light to filter through. Always a fan of black and white!

What can I say? This is a fixture that never goes out of style. It's decorative, timeless and just really pretty. I also feel using several down a hallway would offer that hotel look we admire when we stay in them. Other than a hallway this could be used anywhere in the home. They even make a pendant version to use over an island or if you have very high ceilings, OMG I can just imagine it!

That's the Amazon light fixture list. I truly hope you find something that can work in your space to elevate your Design, illuminate your mood and beautify your house. Having a hard time making a decision, reach out to me rebecca@rackdesign.ca
